6. PLAN AHEAD
Give your organization plenty of time to plan out your event. Make sure you know what your budget is, how much you are looking to NET and what product line you think would work best for your fundraiser. Make sure everyone is on the same page early in the planning process. The more you plan ahead the smoother the outcome will be!
5. LOCATION, LOCATION ,LOCATION
Pick a central and well known location that is easily accessible and can hold the amount of guest you are expecting. Two things you don’t want to end up happening on the day of your event 1) have the guest get lost and miss the event; 2) the venue you chose was not suitable for the amount of people that showed up.
4. TIMING IS EVERYTHING
Choosing the right day for your event can make or break your turnout! Saturdays are usually your best bet with most families not working or attending religious functions. Christmas, hunting opener and the Super Bowl are pretty tough to compete with so don’t waste your time trying. Plan your event around your customers schedule so they don’t have to choose between other important plans or holidays.
3. SELL THOSE TICKETS
Advertise your event as much as you can. The more people you can get in the door the more profit your conservation group will make! People will not show up unless they know your event is happening. Use any media vehicle you can whether it's print ads, email, phone campaigns, your local church or school and most importantly Word of Mouth. Make sure that your target market knows the WHO, WHAT, WHEN and WHERE of your event to eliminate any confusion.
2. DISPLAY YOUR PRODUCTS
NET is most important, and now that you have put all that effort into planning this event and getting people in the door you want to make sure your products are displayed properly. It’s much easier to get bids on a product that is displayed properly than if it is still stuffed away in its box with a picture on it. People want to see what they are buying, so do your products some justice.
If it’s a painting hang it,
If it’s a chess set lay the pieces out,
If it’s a lamp turn it on.
1. HAVE FUN
Most important tip for your fundraising event is to have fun. A good attitude=better success!
